About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Motor Vehicle Mechanic to join our in-house team at Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping to provide an effective and efficient ambulance service to the people across the Yorkshire and Humber region.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Sub-Workshop Manager to ensure that all motor vehicle repairs, pre-planned maintenance and servicing are completed within an accurate timescale and in a cost-effective manner. The ideal candidate will have extensive post-apprenticeship experience in vehicle mechanical engineering and the ability to interpret complex information, diagnose faults in vehicles and equipment, and make informed decisions as to the extent of the repair or replacement of faulty units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults in vehicles and equipment and make informed decisions as to the extent of the repair or replacement of faulty units.
  • Ensure that all motor vehicle repairs, pre-planned maintenance and servicing are completed within an accurate timescale and in a cost-effective manner.
  • Supervise trainees, staff on secondment and outside contractors within the workplace.
