About the Role:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design Manager to join our team in Manchester. As a Senior Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing innovative design solutions from concept to completion. You will collaborate with design partners, subcontractors, and clients to ensure cost-effective, compliant designs that meet project specifications and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:- Support innovative, cost-effective design solutions in line with client briefs and project requirements.
- Build and maintain relationships with design partners, subcontractors, and clients, ensuring expectations are managed and deliverables met.
- Chair design team meetings, providing direction and resolving queries with stakeholders.
- Apply value engineering principles to optimize designs and align with procurement and construction activities.
- Manage design risks and ensure compliance with Employer's Requirements and Contractors' Proposals.
- Monitor design progress, identify potential issues, and drive performance through KPIs.
- Degree qualified in a relevant construction or architectural field.
- 3 years' experience working in a similar field ideally with a main contractor.
- Professional accreditation (C.Eng., MCIOB) bonus.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Analytical, adaptable, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Experience with project planning and problem-solving.
- Client-focused, with leadership and decision-making capabilities.
- Proficient in MS Office and collaborative platforms, with experience in design software (e.g., P6, MS Project or similar).
- Knowledge and experience of various design standards (e.g. WIMES, Client Standards).
