The Shakespeare Hospice is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counsellor Volunteer to join our Adult Counselling and Bereavement Support Service. As a Counsellor Volunteer, you will play a vital role in providing emotional support and guidance to patients and their families, helping them navigate complex end-of-life and bereavement issues.
Key Responsibilities- Support patients and their families with complex end-of-life and bereavement issues, adhering to NICE Guidance, 2004.
- Work with a range of mild to moderate mental health problems and psychological distress, including depression, anxiety, stress, and adjustment to life events.
- Develop and maintain client relationships, working towards a planned and negotiated ending with clients.
- Participate in regular supervision, adhering to BACP guidelines, and maintain appropriate professional records.
- Attend regular team meetings and events, and participate in audit, evidence-based practice, and practice-based evidence initiatives.
- Either qualified as a counsellor or working towards qualification, with a minimum of 50 hours experience.
- Able to commit to a minimum of a year volunteering with the hospice.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
- Opportunity to work with a diverse range of patients and families, providing emotional support and guidance.
- Training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

- Indemnity insurance to support your role as a Counsellor Volunteer.
