Strategic Culture Director

We are partnering with a Local Authority in London to fill a 6-month contract position for a Strategic Culture Director, which is highly likely to be extended.

Estimated Salary: £39,900 - £50,210 per annum

Job Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the strategic commissioning of services that align with the Royal Borough of Greenwich's priorities and outcomes in culture, heritage, and tourism.

Responsibilities:

  • To develop and implement new, innovative cultural, heritage, and tourism projects that support the borough's priorities.
  • To take lead responsibility for the development and provision of efficient client services, ensuring that providers fulfill their duties under service level agreements.
  • To lead the delivery of the Council's corporate and community Events programme, implementing and delivering the council's priorities while achieving commercial income where possible.
  • To provide strategic guidance and advice to members and officers on events and ensure the Council discharges its statutory duties in event planning.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • A senior manager with experience in a culture, events, heritage, or tourism role or a recognised qualification and relevant experience.
  • Experience of strategic planning, decision making, and influencing strategic decision-makers in the culture, events, heritage, or tourism sector.
  • Experience in managing large, complex culture, events, tourism, or heritage projects from concept to implementation.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of key sector legislation and strategies, funding regimes, and key personnel of key agencies in the sector.
  • Experience in delivering successful bids for external funding in the culture, events, tourism, or heritage sectors.
