The Workshop is a leading organization in the marine industry, dedicated to decarbonizing the sector through innovative hydraulic systems. We're seeking a skilled Hydraulic Systems Engineer to join our team and contribute to this mission.

Job Summary

We're offering a competitive salary of £55,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, for this exciting opportunity. As a key member of our engineering team, you will design, validate, and test hydraulic systems for various projects in the commercial, leisure, and shipping sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our dynamic team to develop hydraulic systems, utilizing your expertise in fluid power and mechanical systems.
  • Design and specify hydraulic systems from concept to manufacturing drawings, incorporating 3D modeling and simulation tools.
  • Produce detailed documentation and calculations to support designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Model and validate hydraulic systems using Simcenter AMEsim software, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Develop and test hydraulic systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing modifications as needed.
  • Select and manage suppliers, ensuring high-quality components and timely delivery.
  • Commission and provide technical support for vessels, working closely with our operations team.

Requirements

  • Degree in Fluid Power, Mechanical, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • NFPC (or equivalent) Hydraulics Training, or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong understanding of industrial and mobile hydraulic systems, including components and subsystems.
  • Familiarity with CAD design software, preferably Siemens NX.
  • Experience in creating hydraulic schematics and diagrams.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with Simcenter AMEsim simulation software, enhancing system performance and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of marine industry regulations, classification societies, and electrical systems or PLC systems.
  • EPlan ECAD experience, enabling seamless integration with other design tools.
