We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist/Intensivist to join our team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be based at Furness General Hospital, covering the Intensive Care Unit, and will work closely with a team of 8 Consultants, several Specialists, and Specialty Doctors.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in a 1:8 Consultant of the Week model, including prospective cover.
- Join a team providing general services, including Accident and Emergency, Theatres, and Intensive Care.
- Lead Assessments of deteriorating patients for emergency admission to the Intensive Care Unit.
- Manage pre and post-operative theatre admissions.
- Participate in clinical audit, governance, and quality improvement.
- Demonstrate evidence-based practice.
- Undertake and participate in the appraisal process and job planning.
- Satisfy the criteria for revalidation.
- Contribute to service development in areas of special interest and expertise.
- Actively participate in continuing medical education.

Requirements- Full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
- FICM or an equivalent qualification.
- FRCA or an equivalent appropriate higher anaesthetic qualification.
- ICM recognised formal training in intensive care medicine or equivalent.
- Experience in the management of Trauma and other surgical emergencies.
- Broad exposure to anaesthesia, particularly for laparoscopic surgery, emergency surgical, and obstetric emergencies.
- Evidence of involvement and experience in audit.
