Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We are seeking an experienced children's nurse to undertake the exciting challenge of Deputy Sister on Children's CDU. This 24-hour medical unit links closely with the Children's Emergency Department to provide care for children who need further assessment, observation, continuation of treatment, or to await results.

The unit also sees GP referrals and ward attenders, which gives varied dynamics to the busy unit. As a Deputy Sister, you will be responsible for coordinating shifts, maintaining safe care and clinical practice, and considering skill mix in every shift.

This role can also enhance your knowledge surrounding department clinical auditing and quality improvement projects. You will be supported by the Ward Sister and will act as a role model, deputising in their absence along with the other members of the Senior Nursing team.

You will also enjoy teaching and supporting junior staff as well as pre and post-registration students. Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country, providing a wide range of general and specialist clinical services.

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington, and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury. Our values, standards, and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues, and the wider community.
