About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Project Manager to join our team at Transport for Wales. As a key member of our project management team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of transport-related projects that improve transport services in line with Welsh Government transport policy and strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager in delivering a range of transport-related projects by applying robust project lifecycle methodologies, implementing project plans, and ensuring timely completion of tasks, milestones, and resource management.
  • Provide a professional and effective project management service, including project governance, reporting, technical working groups, and executive steering groups, in accordance with required processes and timelines.
  • Track project and programme progress and provide regular reports to stakeholders by supporting the Project and Programme Managers to establish and implement project plans.
  • Identify and monitor project risks, including financial, reputational, quality, environmental, and health and safety risks, and collaborate with TfW risk professionals to manage the risk register.
Requirements
  • Working towards a project management qualification such as APM or PRINCE2 or similar.
  • Previous experience of supporting the delivery of transport projects.
  • Basic understanding of the application of Future Generations Act, Better Business Case Five Case Model, and WelTAG in relation to transport projects.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in support of a robust safety culture.
  • Experience of administering project management documentation, including project action trackers, programmes, project reporting, risk, and issue processes.
Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would be a great asset, but it is not essential for this role. Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and encourages them to develop, improve, and maintain their Welsh Language skills.
