As a Claims Director, you will play a critical role in ensuring a high level of service to members in relation to claims handling. This will include personal injury, property damage, and pollution claims, as part of the wide range of P&I claims that can arise.
Key Responsibilities:- Handling a variety of P&I claims, including complex and high-value matters, for owners and charterers in accordance with the Club's policies and procedures.
- Reviewing contracts to advise members on risk exposures and discussing additional insurances they may require.
- Mentoring, supervising, and managing colleagues working within the O&R Claims team.
- Collaborating with underwriters, loss prevention, and other colleagues to identify risk trends and manage relationships.
- Preparing agendas, reports, and informing the sector of significant developments.
- Assisting with audits, peer reviews, and developing claims handling and operational processes.
- Supporting business development activities, networking with members and customers, and building a high-performing team environment.
- Maintaining a detailed understanding of company-wide, functional, and sectoral rules, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Significant experience in P&I claims handling and management, including complex and high-value claims.
- Strong technical legal skills with wide experience of reviewing and analyzing contracts.
- Good knowledge of marine insurance, particularly P&I cover.
- Evidence of owning member and/or customer relationships and high performance in relationship management.
- Excellent file administration and report writing skills.
