Job Summary:

Devon County Council is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to manage the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring a caring, safe, secure, and stimulating environment for children from 9 months to 2 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding leadership and operational management of the nursery, ensuring high standards are met and children receive excellent quality care and education.
  • Plan a range of activities based on an observation and assessment cycle for children in the nursery.
  • Manage a team of staff working with the Head of School to ensure policies and procedures are implemented.
  • Engage parents and the community in the nursery.

Requirements:

  • Experience of leadership and the ability to motivate staff.
  • Experience within an early years and childcare setting.
  • Ability to work with other agencies and professionals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Completed a full and relevant early years and childcare qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • Relevant Level 4 Management or Level 5 childcare qualification.

Working Hours:

The nursery will be open from am to pm during term time and two weeks of the school holidays (one week at Easter and one week in the summer).
