Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 midwife to work within the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The role requires knowledge and understanding of the Public Health England national antenatal and newborn screening programmes.

Main Duties

The post holder will support the NUH Trust Antenatal and Newborn Screening Coordinators in delivering the national Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programmes. Key responsibilities include audit, practice change and development, support with local and national data collection and audits, Quarterly KPI and annual data submissions, contributing to annual reports, education and training of registered and non-registered staff members, and monitoring and actioning national screening programme failsafes.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a suitable teaching and assessing qualification, possession of a mentoring course, and demonstrate continuous personal and professional development. They will also have experience working at Band 6 for a minimum of 3 years, supervision and evidence of ability to mentor non-registered staff and midwifery/nursing students, and knowledge and understanding of PHE national requirements for Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programmes.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be able to convey sensitive information in an empathetic manner to patients, relatives, carers, and staff, and have experience working within a multidisciplinary team. They will also be able to identify own learning needs, be perceptive to the needs of other team members, and demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, deliver, prioritise, and evaluate patient care.
