The role of Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional involves working closely with the police and receiving training and support to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner.

We provide a high level of care to detainees and their needs, which can vary from drug/alcohol dependency to acute medical episodes.

Experience within forensics is NOT NECESSARY. However, previous experience in A&E, walk-in centres, substance misuse, community nursing, or police custody would be ideal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Forensic sampling
  • Signposting and conducting referrals
  • Delivering substance misuse therapies
  • Assessment & care of detainees and staff in custody suites
  • Acute disease management
