Farm Manager Job Description

G&B Dobson Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our mixed arable farm in the Lincolnshire Wolds.

**Job Summary:**

We are looking for a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to maximize productivity, maintain assets, and build relationships within the local community. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating farming activities, developing and implementing crop management strategies, and overseeing the maintenance and proper use of all farm assets.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Plan and coordinate farming activities such as drilling, spraying, harvesting, and crop rotation
* Develop and implement crop management strategies to optimize yield and quality
* Oversee the maintenance and proper use of all farm assets including buildings, vehicles, and machinery
* Conduct regular inspections to ensure all equipment and infrastructure are in optimal working condition
* Coordinate and supervise all harvesting activities to ensure timely and efficient crop collection
* Manage labour force during peak harvesting periods to maximize productivity
* Oversee post-harvest handling and storage to maintain crop quality
* Oversee the operation and maintenance of farm equipment and machinery
* Highlight safety protocols related to farm machinery
* Build and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers, buyers, and contractors
* Negotiate contracts when needed and agreements to secure favourable terms for the farm
* Develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources
* Monitor financial performance and prepare reports for the owners

**Requirements:**

* Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Farm Management, or related field
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in a farm manager role
* Strong knowledge of agricultural practices, crop management, and modern farming techniques
* Proficiency in operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment
* Ability to manage budgets and financial plans
* Familiarity with agricultural software and technology
* Full Driving licence
