We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated IT Technician to join our Radiotherapy Physics team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, supporting the delivery of advanced radiotherapy treatments to cancer patients. As an IT Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting IT issues, generating reports, and providing training to clinical staff.

You will work closely with our team of Engineers, Technicians, Dosimetrists, and Medical Physicists to ensure the efficient and safe delivery of radiotherapy treatments. Your strong background in computing and IT will enable you to quickly pick up complex ideas and information, and your ability to work individually or as part of a team will be essential in maintaining excellent working relationships with a wide range of staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • First point of contact for troubleshooting IT issues in the clinical systems associated with radiotherapy physics.
  • Data-related activities: generating reports.
  • Supporting maintenance of complex hardware and virtualized IT systems.
  • Devising materials for and providing training to clinical staff.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong background in computing and IT.
  • Experience of applying scientific and technical skills to find solutions to practical problems.
  • Experience of creating data reports using Structured Query Language.
  • Experience of working in a team in a technical environment.

You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work in a clinical environment with occasional interaction with cancer patients.
