The role of Health and Safety Manager is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to make a real difference. You'll be responsible for monitoring adherence to our site's legal requirements and our company's in-house safety and compliance framework.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking health and safety inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Compiling weekly and monthly compliance reports for our senior management team.
  • Conducting health and safety training to ensure our staff are equipped to work safely.
  • Promoting a positive health and safety culture throughout our site.

  • To monitor and audit compliance and effectiveness of our site's health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Effective delivery of training to all staff, including risk assessment and manual handling.
  • To work with our central SHEQ team to ensure information is collected and collated for hazard and near miss reporting, external and internal audits, and behavioural surveys.
  • To act as our site's point of contact for fire prevention, including investigation of reports of fire incidents, conducting fire drills, testing firefighting equipment, emergency escape lighting, and alarms.
  • Carry out contractor inductions and assist in the completion of on-site contractor monitoring reports.
  • To ensure our vehicles, plant, and machinery exceed legislative requirements and monitor completion of statutory inspections.
  • Formally investigate accidents and incidents across our site and produce appropriate reports and recommendations for corrective action.

Requirements:

We're looking for a candidate with:

  • Previous experience working in an industrial environment, with an ability to propose new ways of working.
  • A high level of knowledge on confined space works, breathing apparatus, high-pressure water activities in complex/multi-hazard environments.
  • Level 5 City & Guilds in management of confined spaces is desirable.
  • Experience/knowledge in chemical/hazardous spill remediation, a dynamic and proactive approach in preparing teams responding to reactive high-risk scenarios.
  • Experience training personnel would be very advantageous, able to translate regulatory requirements into safe working practices, and train those out.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH.
