We are seeking a skilled and experienced Charity Financial Manager to join our Board of Trustees. The successful candidate will work closely with the charity's Accountant and Chief Executive to oversee the financial operations of the charity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chair the Finance and Audit Committee to ensure effective financial governance
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of budgets, accounts, and financial statements in collaboration with the charity's Accountant and Chief Executive
  • Ensure the charity's financial resources meet its current and future needs, including maintaining an appropriate reserves policy
  • Advise on the financial implications of the charity's strategic plans and ensure alignment with the charity's policies and legal responsibilities
  • Monitor the charity's investment activity and ensure it is in line with the organisation's policies and legal requirements
  • Ensure the charity has an appropriate investment policy and that there is no conflict between any investment held and the charity's aims
  • Prepare and disclose accounts in the required form for funders and statutory bodies, such as the Charity Commission and Registrar of Companies
  • Ensure the accounts are scrutinised as required (audit) and that any recommendations are implemented
  • Keep the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities, and present the accounts at the Annual General Meeting in a clear and accessible manner

Additional Responsibilities:

  • As a Trustee, serve on the Board and contribute effectively to decision-making and strategy development
  • Collaborate with fellow Trustees to shape the charity's strategy and objectives, and use your skills and experience to support the Board in making informed decisions
  • Approve the charity's Annual Accounts and ensure financial stability through oversight of financial controls and governance
