About the Role

AWE is seeking an Electrical CAD Design Engineer to support the delivery of challenging projects and electrical maintenance work within the Orion Laser Facility.

This role will contribute to the Engineering Team, working with senior electrical and C&I engineers to identify solutions for electrical engineering projects and resolve system and equipment obsolescence.

The successful candidate will produce electrical designs and associated design work in line with the qualified design process and most appropriate design codes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to project delivery by producing conceptual designs, detail designs, and design specifications.
  • Deliver electrical/control designs, assisting the Technical Leads and Senior Engineers in scoping, planning, and estimating future activities.
  • Develop professional skills and knowledge under the guidance of a technical mentor.
Requirements
  • BEng Electrical Engineering or equivalent demonstrated work experience.
  • A recognised relevant qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC or BTEC Level 4/5 plus suitable experience.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Ability to test installations and systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution and BS7671 18th Edition qualification.
