The Role:

As the lead Medical Physics Expert, you'll oversee the provision of scientific support for nuclear medicine services, including molecular radiotherapy, PET-CT, diagnostic nuclear medicine, and radiopharmacy. You'll manage quality assurance programmes for nuclear medicine equipment, ensuring safe and effective use.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide scientific support for nuclear medicine services, including molecular radiotherapy and PET-CT.
  • Manage quality assurance programmes for nuclear medicine equipment.
  • Lead research and development activities to improve services and contribute to future planning.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, including IR(ME)R and IRR.
  • Participate in training and continuing education of staff, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Provide radiation safety advice to clinical teams and assist in incident investigations involving ionising radiation.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience in nuclear medicine physics, with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist and certification as a Medical Physics Expert under IR(ME)R.
  • In-depth knowledge of nuclear medicine physics, including molecular radiotherapy and novel radionuclides.
  • Experience with commissioning and acceptance testing of nuclear medicine equipment such as PET-CT and SPECT-CT.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical staff.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, statistical analysis, and knowledge of programming languages like Python and Matlab.
  • Flexibility to work across centres, attend meetings, and work outside standard hours when required.
