Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ornithology Consultant to join our team at RSK Biocensus. As an ornithologist, you will be responsible for managing and delivering all elements of ornithological field surveys, assessment, tender and report writing, and project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and undertake a broad range of bird surveys, including BBS, winter bird surveys, species-specific surveys, offshore surveys, and vantage point surveys.
  • Design and implement mitigation strategies to minimize the impact of human activities on bird populations.
  • Manage financial aspects of projects, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Produce high-quality tenders and reports that meet client requirements.
  • Lead project teams and provide guidance and support to junior team members.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide ornithological support on projects and contribute to the development of new business opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in commercial consultancy.
  • Technical competence in bird surveys and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills.
  • Enthusiasm, energy, and drive to deliver projects to the highest standard.
  • Excellent report writing skills, including survey reports, EcIAs, HRAs, and tenders.
  • Full driving license and ability to travel.
  • Membership of CIEEM (Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management) or eligibility to join.
