Regulated Litigation Expert

Barnsley Council is seeking a seasoned Senior Civil Litigation Lawyer to join their thriving regulatory team. This esteemed role presents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious professional to take on new challenges and grow with the organization.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, having previously managed teams in private practice or public sector settings. A strong background in civil litigation, including contractual disputes, judicial reviews, and housing matters, is essential for this position.

Key responsibilities include:

• Directly line managing junior lawyers, providing guidance, and supporting their professional development.
• Working autonomously, making informed decisions, and contributing to the allocation of work.
• Deputising for the Principal Lawyer and assisting with training junior staff members.
• Engaging in general housing litigation, such as anti-social behaviour cases, possession claims, and injunctions.
• Civil litigation matters involving contractual disputes, judicial reviews, and non-payment of care home fees.
• Supporting the legal team with employment matters, including discrimination cases, equal pay claims, and HR queries.
