Consultant Paediatrician

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Consultant Paediatrician. This is a substantive post arising from retirements, offering a unique opportunity to further develop community paediatric services and contribute to the development of a centre of excellence in secondary paediatric care.

The successful candidate will work across community services, lead the continence team, and be the link person with the renal team. They will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to children with common problems such as neurodevelopmental disorders, sleep, and developmental delay. The post holder will also be involved in the development of a multidisciplinary approach to the continence service.

The Community Child Health Service is a Lanarkshire-wide service provided from Health Centres and Community clinics throughout the area. The successful candidate will work closely with other Consultant Community Paediatricians and Specialty Doctors to deliver high-quality care to children and families.

The post is offered as a full-time position on a 10 PA basis, with a breakdown of 8 Direct Clinical Care and 2 Supporting Professional Activity, subject to confirmation and approval of the final job plan. Applications will be considered from those wishing to work less than full-time. The post also includes an on-call commitment to the Child Protection rota.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality care to children with common problems such as neurodevelopmental disorders, sleep, and developmental delay.
  • Lead the continence team and develop a multidisciplinary approach to the service.
  • Work closely with the renal team to deliver high-quality care to children with renal conditions.
  • Contribute to the development of community paediatric services and the centre of excellence in secondary paediatric care.

Requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Registration with the General Medical Council.
  • Experience in community paediatrics and leadership roles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
