Job Overview

As a key member of the Birchall Blackburn Law team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our conveyancing department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and forward-thinking law firm, where you will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload and delivering exceptional client service.

Key ResponsibilitiesPeople Management
  • Team Leadership: You will be responsible for the line management and development of assistant or shared assistant resources, ensuring the successful running of your caseload.
  • Assistant Development: Identify potential for development of your Assistant and encourage and facilitate this development by broadening their experience, knowledge, and skills.
  • Department Flexibility: Work with your Team Leader to identify opportunities to move people where appropriate, with the aim of increasing the flexibility of the department and its ability to respond to a variety of different pressures.
Client Management
  • Client Relationships: Maintain and build good professional working relationships with clients and external organisations.
  • Client Service Standards: Develop and improve client service standards, encouraging a total client care culture throughout the department.
  • Client Feedback: Monitor your team support's delivery of client service, with your Team Leader, through regular feedback reviews.
Technical Responsibilities
  • Property Transactions: Ability to deal with a full range of property transactions, including freehold, leasehold, new builds, shared ownership, and limited company transactions.
  • Compliance: Adhere to and promote compliance with Conveyancing Quality Scheme, the firm's policies, practices, and procedures; legislation applicable to the profession and to any relevant quality standards.
  • Training and Development: Through training and other means, keep fully up to date with relevant legislation and practice.
  • Work Delegation: Delegating work to the team support.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Experience: Good knowledge of services within Birchall Blackburn Law.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Good inter-personal skills, able to deal with all levels within an organisation and relieve potential conflicts.
  • Communication Skills: Able to work accurately and clearly explain technical matters to non-technical users in both written and verbal forms.
  • Client Focus: A client-focused approach to service delivery.
  • Technical Skills: Strong experience in using Microsoft office tools – Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
  • Case Management: Strong experience using case management systems.
  • Industry Knowledge: At least 5 years' experience managing own diverse caseload from instructions to completion and registration.
  • Professional Knowledge: Working knowledge of the CQS Protocol, UKFML, and BSA Handbooks.
