About Us

Betfred's Technology department is driven by innovation, and this role is at the heart of unlocking our new platform's potential. As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be working on everything relating to all databases, whether this is infrastructure, performance optimization, monitoring live databases, or working with the team of development of new features.

The right candidate would be someone who is used to working with other DBAs, Architects, and Engineers to deliver innovative solutions and solve complex problems. They will also be adept at communication, including a high standard of documentation and collaborating with other operational teams to ensure high availability at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our databases.
  • Supporting the live system, understanding all elements of the platform, not just the databases.
  • Handling common DBA tasks such as upgrades, backup, recovery, migrations, etc.
  • Monitoring and managing multiple data replication streams.
  • Handling large-scale data transfers, always ensuring performance.
  • Resolving issues within agreed SLAs and liaising with Support Desk and Development teams to achieve resolution.
  • Carrying out RCA on all new issues.
  • Carrying out peer reviews and enabling Release process.
  • Writing and executing test plans for all changes.
  • Ensuring that solutions and processes are documented to a high standard.


Requirements:
  • Significant experience as a DBA with some specifically focused on MySQL or variation of, Percona, XtraDB Cluster, or MariaDB.
  • Knowledge of standards and best practices in MySQL.
  • Experience in a 24x7, high traffic OLTP environment.
  • Any experience working on scaling MySQL beyond simple replication is a big bonus.
  • Experience with some level of database performance monitoring and analysis.
  • Good understanding of RDBMS systems with an emphasis on MySQL.
  • Experience in handling database performance optimization via query or DB optimization.
  • Good knowledge of Linux, preferably CentOS or similar flavor.
  • Any experience with administering NoSQL databases is beneficial.
