Job Description

EFI is looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our team in the UK, specializing in packaging printing solutions.

The successful candidate will provide technical support, training, and repair services for Inkjet customers, including installation, on-site repair, and key operator training.

  • Perform on-site setup and installation of EFI industrial inkjet Nozomi printers, ensuring pre-installation requirements are met and collaborating with customers to position the print system in their facility.
  • Inspect and assemble printer components, including controllers, print heads, and remote cabinets, and perform thorough testing to ensure image quality meets factory standards.
  • Deliver initial and ongoing customer training on printer operation and maintenance, coordinating with customers based on their needs and assessing training requirements.
  • Respond to complex technical issues at customer sites, providing detailed feedback through the EFI Inkjet Case Management System.
  • Travel up to 75% of the workweek and participate in after-hours support activities to meet customer demands.
  • Collaborate with customers remotely to diagnose equipment issues and provide repair guidance.
Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing on-site and telephone support to Inkjet customers.
  • Installing and repairing printers, including setting up and adjusting print systems.
  • Delivering training to customers on printer operation and maintenance.
  • Resolving complex technical issues at customer sites.
  • Collaborating with customers remotely to diagnose equipment issues and provide repair guidance.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a field engineering position servicing complex electro-mechanical devices and high-demand customer locations.
  • Customer management skills and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • The ability to independently manage a large service territory, including effective management of assets (parts, tools, company information).
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems to the component level.
  • Experience providing telephone technical support and effectively communicating (telephone and email) with Product Service Engineers (Hardware and Applications).
  • A working knowledge of RIPS, color theory, Microsoft Windows, and Linux operating systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, including using critical alignment tools holding tolerances of .001".
