Job Title: Senior Journalist, Newsletters

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Journalist to join our global newsletters team in London, UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging and informative content for a twice-daily newsletter showcasing the best in the BBC's original reporting, innovative digital storytelling, and rich global perspective on both US and international news.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Write, edit, produce, and send the newsletter for a global audience to a tight deadline.
  • Craft interesting, engaging, and accurate subject lines.
  • Use your understanding of newsletters to pick the most interesting and engaging content to share with audiences twice-daily.
  • Use audience metrics and knowledge of the newsletter market to continually develop the email.
  • Build and maintain a close relationship with the digital team in North America and other BBC teams.
Requirements:
  • Significant experience as a digital platforms journalist, preferably with a track record of commissioning and editing international news and current affairs for newsletter audiences.
  • Confidence when working with correspondents and journalists in other parts of the world to deliver interesting and original takes on current events.
  • A good understanding of the BBC's structure and the content we produce, and ideas for how we make that content relevant to a North American newsletter audience.
  • Strong writing skills and experience of taking editorial decisions quickly and independently while under pressure to meet deadlines and a changing news agenda.
  • A rich appreciation of the newsletter market and a thorough understanding of audience metrics in this field.
