Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a pupil referral unit (PRU). This role is ideal for someone who is committed to supporting young people with special educational needs or behavioural challenges and is dedicated to helping vulnerable children achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualised support to pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, mental health issues, or trauma.
  • Assist with learning activities, behaviour management, and personal development.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to support the personalised curriculum for each pupil.
  • Help to maintain a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the school.
Requirements:
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or social care (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools).
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational or care setting.
  • Good understanding of the needs and challenges faced by pupils in PRUs.
  • Positive and flexible attitude with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
