Job Description

As a Railway Engineering Specialist at VGC, you will play a crucial role in delivering infrastructure projects. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the engineering and technical aspects of assigned packages, providing guidance to subcontractors and ensuring that all work meets high quality standards.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in civil engineering, with experience in managing teams and supervising site activities. You will be responsible for setting out infrastructural installations, applying designs, and planning work to meet agreed deadlines. Additionally, you will need to develop and review safe systems of work, method statements, and quality documentation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a team of graduates and apprentices, providing direction and guidance.
  • Liaising with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the general workforce.
  • Carrying out day-to-day management of the site, including supervising labour, junior engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Planning work and organizing plant and site facilities to meet deadlines.
  • Overseeing quality control and health and safety matters on site.

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum based on location and experience.
