About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead from the front with your colleagues at Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating the team to deliver great availability for customers and safe operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete duty cover, ensuring all decisions are right for customers, colleagues, and everyone's safety.
  • Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of a manager for their day-to-day operational queries.
  • Support managers to coordinate seasonal, community, and charity events, creating a great inclusive atmosphere.
  • Ensure the center is always clean, tidy, and well-presented.
  • Coordinate colleagues, ensuring they deliver daily priorities and have their breaks at the right time to fit around operational requirements.
  • Be knowledgeable about your center and our results, coordinating others to deliver practical actions to make improvements.
  • Follow company health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.
  • Deliver communication to the team when there are cascades from your manager.
  • Look at ways to simplify our operations and share these ideas with your manager.
  • Cover team manager absence/days off by coordinating activity across the trading areas.
  • Always put the customer first and consider them in everything you do.
  • Recognize and celebrate colleagues' achievements.
  • Understand what may be getting in the way of delivering a great service/availability and help to remove these obstacles.
  • Communicate with picking and delivery teams as required.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the colleague shop.
