About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cook in Charge to join our Catering team at Carmarthenshire County Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchens, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and serving of nutritious and appetizing meals to a range of customers, including pupils and staff.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service, building good relationships with adults and children based on mutual respect.
  • Lead a team of cooks and kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the efficient operation of the kitchen.
  • Manage stock and supplies, ensuring that all necessary ingredients and equipment are available to meet customer demands.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless service delivery and maintain high standards of customer satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong background in food preparation and service.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Basic IT skills, with the ability to complete all required paperwork and manage kitchen operations efficiently.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A food hygiene certificate and previous experience in a catering or hospitality role would be advantageous.
