Exciting Opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our client's dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for a proven technician, with expertise in electrical and mechanical disciplines, to take on a key role in maintaining and optimising production machinery and equipment in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will be responsible for both reactive and preventative maintenance, ensuring that site machinery is running smoothly and efficiently. You will work a 40-hour week on a rotating double shift pattern. You will be working in a collaborative team environment where you will not only maintain equipment but also identify areas for improvement and play an integral part in continuous improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform planned and reactive maintenance on automated machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal efficiency.
  2. Document all maintenance work using a computerised maintenance management system, providing accurate and detailed records.
  3. Provide technical advice and support during breakdowns, and improve maintenance practices to enhance overall performance.
  4. Develop and execute preventative maintenance plans to minimise breakdowns and enhance machinery efficiency.
  5. Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring team members are trained on new processes and procedures.
  6. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and food safety regulations, including BRC standards, to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
  7. Support continuous improvement projects and the creation of Safe Working Procedures within the Engineering Department, driving innovation and excellence.
Ideal Requirements
  1. NVQ Level 3 multi-skilled apprenticeship (electrically biased) or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience working with PLC and SCADA control systems (Mitsubishi, Siemens, Rockwell, Fanuc) and ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
  3. FMCG experience, ideally within the food sector, with knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques and ability to apply them in a fast-paced environment.
