Teaching Assistant SEND Support with a Deaf Pupil

The RoleWe are seeking an exceptional candidate to provide high-quality care and learning environment for our children. The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for supporting the children at our school and is expected to inspire, excite, and nurture every child in their care. This role involves providing 1:1 support to a student who is deaf, assisting them in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
Key Responsibilities- Implementing tailored communication strategies, including the use of sign language or other relevant tools, to facilitate effective learning and interaction.
- Collaborating closely with teaching staff and external professionals to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that meet the students specific needs.
- Monitoring the students progress, adapting support strategies as necessary, and ensuring their well-being and inclusion within the school community.
- Supporting the development of the students social, emotional, and academic skills, fostering their confidence and independence.
- Proficiency in sign language (BSL)
- Experience of working with children who are deaf or have hearing impairments
- Familiarity with technical equipment used by the deaf
- At least two years of experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs
- Monthly salary including holiday pay
- Fee concessions for the children of full-time teaching staff who meet the schools entry requirements
- Lunch provided when on duty
