The role of the Financial Controller
- Manage prepayments and accruals to ensure accurate financial records
- Ensure Heads of Departments submit actual and forecasted payroll on time to meet financial obligations
- Implement and enforce cost control procedures to optimize financial performance
- Ensure contracts and relevant documents are issued to all staff and staff records are up-to-date
- Process new starters and leavers according to established procedures
- Assist with the pension scheme for all eligible employees
- Accurately and timely process the monthly payroll to meet financial deadlines
- Ensure returns, declarations, and administration are properly handled concerning HMRC, pensions, and other relevant bodies
- Process invoices and staff expenses in the correct accounting period to maintain financial accuracy
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies with suppliers
- Prepare and post month-end journals to ensure financial records are accurate
- Review Profit and Loss statements and report any discrepancies to management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounts office
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely reporting and financial transparency
- Perform other reasonable tasks as requested by management
The ideal candidate for the role of Financial Controller
- Minimum 3 years of experience in monthly accounts and payroll management is essential
