Position Overview: We are looking for a clinical academic to enhance our dynamic translational rheumatology unit. This role is suitable for either early-career professionals demonstrating significant potential or established academics with a growing national and international profile in their specialty.
Research and Clinical Activities: Your research will be conducted within the Faculty of Medical Sciences, while clinical responsibilities will take place at a leading musculoskeletal unit. Our department features a variety of specialized clinics that encompass the full spectrum of rheumatology, supported by a robust infrastructure designed to facilitate both clinical and translational research.
Research Excellence: Our rheumatology research group is internationally recognized, having received multiple EULAR Centre of Excellence awards. The focus on musculoskeletal diseases is a pivotal aspect of our NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre, which provides essential research infrastructure. Recent projects include innovative therapies for inflammatory arthritis and collaborative studies on disease mechanisms.
Field of Interest: We welcome candidates with expertise in any rheumatology subspecialty, particularly those with a focus on connective tissue diseases. Opportunities exist to leverage our extensive specialty clinics for research initiatives. Our translational research group emphasizes immunological disease mechanisms, while also encouraging researchers with interests in data science.
