Job Title: Senior Design Manager

As a key member of our senior project team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the design function and team on live schemes. This role involves working closely with our Work Winning Department to secure future work and collaborating with appointed design partners to deliver innovative and cost-effective design solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate the design of projects from tender stage to completion of construction stage design information.
  • Utilize construction knowledge and experience to support design solutions and apply value engineering principles to ensure best value for all parties.
  • Develop relationships with appointed design partners, review their competences, and ensure design deliverable dates are achieved.
  • Chair and minute design team meetings and design workshops to arrive at cost-effective solutions.
  • Manage the design relationship for the whole project team, including the client, subcontractors, and professional team.
  • Understand the process and risks/opportunities related to managing the design with regard to Employer's Requirements and Contractors' Proposals.
  • Identify and check contents of Contractors Proposals, qualifications list, design information, and marketing documentation for the tender.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to value engineering throughout the design phase.
  • Produce, monitor, and drive production through appropriate use of KPIs for the design process.
  • Review the design on an ongoing basis, identify potential interface problems, and resolve with the design team and specialist subcontractors.
Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate with a range of people at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to plan, report, organise, and project manage.
  • Experience of P6, Microsoft Project, or similar (desirable).
  • Knowledge and experience of various design standards.
