A&P Tyne is seeking a skilled Plater to join their fabrication team. As a highly valued and skilled team member, you will work on fabrication, welding, or plating, using your skills on a variety of exciting projects in the commercial and military sectors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out plating operations following work instructions
  • Reading drawings to ensure that steel is cut to specification
  • Accurately assembling and ensuring that plating is carried out to spec
  • Cutting and preparing plates/sections
  • Tack welding
  • Assembling fabrication work to pass to welders for final assembly
  • Working with inspections and quality teams
  • Supporting the training of apprentices and new employees

Requirements include:

  • Time served through a recognised training programme, such as an apprenticeship
  • Competency in reading and understanding engineering drawings
  • Competency with equipment, continually training to meet trade requirements
  • A passion for meeting and exceeding customer requirements
  • Efficiency and productivity with a focus on achieving targets
  • Willingness to take on new challenges to develop competency
