Job Summary

The Ministry of Justice is seeking a skilled Corporate English Trainer to join their team. As a Probation Intervention Specialist, you will play a critical role in delivering rehabilitation interventions to individuals on probation. Your primary objective will be to reduce re-offending, protect the public, and promote rehabilitation through the delivery of effective evidence-based programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver group and individual interventions to individuals on probation, creating a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Monitor and assess the suitability, risk, and safety of individuals on probation, making informed recommendations for sentence management.
  • Liaise with Probation Practitioners and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Deliver workshops and briefings to Probation staff and external stakeholders on intervention programs and content.
  • Model pro-social behaviour and attitudes, challenging anti-social behaviour and attitudes.

Requirements

  • High-level literacy skills to read, understand, and interpret policies, and write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, maintaining effective team relationships.
  • Experience of dealing with challenging behaviour, including from individuals with social and personal difficulties.
  • Understanding of the criminal justice system, safeguarding principles, and types of sentences given to individuals on probation.

Working Arrangements

The post holder will be regionally based and sit in the Interventions Team, reporting to the Programme Manager. Travel will be required to deliver interventions across a large regional area. The post holder will work unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends.

Assessment Centre

Candidates will be required to undertake and pass an Assessment Centre prior to undertaking training. They will also be required to become an Accredited Programmes Facilitator by undertaking and successfully passing Core Skills and Programme-specific training.
