Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Young People Support Worker to join our team in Glastonbury. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting young people aged 16+ in housing projects and within the community to equip them with the skills to live independently.

About the Role

This is a key role within the support team of YMCA Mendip and South Somerset. As a Young People Support Worker, you will work closely with young people to identify their needs and develop tailored support plans to help them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide holistic support to young people aged 16+ in housing projects and within the community, including assistance with accommodation, employment, education, and health-related issues.
  • Work collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive approach to supporting young people.
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments to monitor progress and adjust support plans as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on client interactions and outcomes.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including young people from marginalized communities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with youth-focused organizations and services.
