Conservation Specialist: Pictorial Art Mounting

About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Conservation Specialist: Pictorial Art Mounting. As a key member of our Collection Care department, you will be responsible for the conservation mounting of pictorial art on paper, ensuring the highest standards of preservation and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- To contribute to the conservation mounting of pictorial art on paper, developing specialist knowledge and skills in this area.
- To work collaboratively with colleagues to prepare objects for loans and exhibitions, ensuring they are properly conserved and presented.
- To contribute to the care of the collection through dedicated projects on collections in store, applying your knowledge of conservation principles and practices.
- To participate in public outreach activities, sharing your expertise with visitors and stakeholders.
- To contribute to the development of new preventive or interventive measures, staying up-to-date with the latest conservation techniques and best practices.
About You:
- You will have a recognized professional conservation qualification to degree level or equivalent, with a strong emphasis on the conservation of pictorial art on paper.
- You will have demonstrable practical skills in the mounting and housing of pictorial art on paper, as well as a strong interest in the conservation of art on paper.
- You will have a good understanding of mechanisms involved in material deterioration and conservation theory and ethical decision-making.
- You will have relevant knowledge of health and safety and good computing skills, with proficiency in a range of IT systems.
- You will be able to work under pressure, undertaking highly detailed tasks and planning your own work to deliver set objectives on time and to budget.
