Are you a motivated and experienced orthoptist looking for a challenging role in a dynamic environment? We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our eye care team as an Orthoptist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and confident orthoptist to work in a busy, supportive department based at Queen's Medical Centre campus. As an Orthoptist, you will be responsible for participating in paediatric and adult ocular motility clinics and assessing patients referred from eye casualty.
The department is a clinical placement centre for orthoptic undergraduates, optometrists, medical students, postgraduate medics, and other health professionals, and you would be expected to contribute to this clinical teaching role.
Main Duties of the Job- Deliver high-quality care across all elements of the service, including paediatric and adult orthoptics, new patient orthoptic/optometry clinics, paediatric ophthalmology, adult squint, and neuro-ophthalmology.
- Provide expert orthoptic assessment and treatment for patients referred from eye casualty and other specialties such as maxillofacial, neurology, stroke, and paediatrics.
- Work flexibly to support the needs of the service, which may include supporting the visual fields service and training for additional roles.
- Use effective time management and organisational skills to ensure smooth running of individual clinics and the wider service.
- Develop and deliver high-quality clinical teaching to a wide range of healthcare professionals.
You will be working with a multidisciplinary team in the Ophthalmology Department, comprising Orthoptists, Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Technicians, OSPs, nursing and admin teams. Our Ophthalmology Services include eye casualty, day case, in-patient, and outpatient facilities, with a large team of Consultant Ophthalmologists providing outpatient and surgical services in a full range of Ophthalmology sub-speciality clinics.
We offer a competitive salary of £38,000 - £48,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package, including pension scheme, annual leave, and flexible working arrangements.
