About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Digitalisation Engineer to join our Manufacturing Metrology Group at the National Physical Laboratory in Huddersfield.

This is a permanent position to assist in delivering our work around process monitoring and digitalisation in manufacturing processes.

The successful candidate will support our research and development work in live industrial settings to help our customers with their manufacturing data.

We are now working in a hybrid way, with a mix of remote and office working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Familiarity with the design and setup of data acquisition systems in an industrial setting.
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
  • Experience of prototyping in Python or C for embedded systems or similar.
  • Open to working on data analysis as well as data acquisition.
  • Comfortable with hands-on working in an industrial environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of diverse teams.

We would also welcome:

  • Familiarity with a range of commonly used manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in working on quality or continuous improvement projects.
  • Knowledge of machine vision systems and analysis.
