Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to lead our compliance, quality, risk, and health and safety services across our national screening programmes.

Main Duties of the Job
  1. Develop, implement, and review specialist Health & Safety and clinical governance policies, ensuring compliance with statutory and legal requirements.
  2. Lead the quality agenda for Screening Services, setting clear outcomes and ensuring systems and processes meet required standards.
  3. Represent the Screening Division at the Public Health Wales Health and Safety Group, providing assurance to senior executives and embedding a culture of health and safety across the Screening Division.
  4. Develop and deliver Health and Safety training sessions tailored to managers and staff across the division.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  1. NEBOSH qualified or recognised equivalent at diploma level; or equivalent level of skills and knowledge with a commitment to attaining the NEBOSH qualification.
  2. Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  3. Knowledge of risk management systems
  4. Knowledge and proven understanding of Duty of Quality and Duty of Candour
  5. Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential

  1. Demonstrable Risk/H&S/Governance management experience
  2. Experience of complex problem solving, analysis, and generating improvements and solutions
  3. Risk management experience

Skills and Attributes

Essential

  1. Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft software, such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  2. Good communicator with colleagues even in challenging situations
  3. Understanding of clinical guidelines, process for review, and role of clinical guidelines in practice
  4. Ability to meet deadlines as well as managing frequent and unpredictable interruptions to deal with new incidents.
