MASTS is seeking a highly skilled Senior Marine Fish Ecologist to play a key role in tackling the climate change emergency. As a member of the Marine Directorate's Science Evidence Digital and Data portfolio, you will contribute to the ScotMER program and identify and address key knowledge gaps through delivery of applied research.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality research and advice on marine fish ecology to support Scotland's drive towards NetZero.
- Contribute to the ScotMER program and identify and address key knowledge gaps through delivery of applied research.
- Provide specialist advice and technical guidance on marine fish ecology to the Marine Directorate's Licensing Operations Team and Policy and Planning colleagues.
- Maintain and develop good working relationships with stakeholders, including NatureScot, JNCC, academia, consultants, and industry.
- Represent the Scottish Government and the Marine Directorate at national and international forums.
Requirements
- Comprehensive understanding of marine fish ecology and research
- Proven track record in marine fish ecology research
- Ability to work independently with good organizational skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
