**Job Title:** Equine Medicine Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Equine Medicine Assistant to join our team at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. As an Equine Medicine Assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care to horses with a variety of internal medical conditions.

**Key Responsibilities:**
  • Assist with the examination, treatment, and monitoring of equine patients, including handling and restraining horses safely and effectively.
  • Perform and assist with diagnostic procedures such as sample collection, ultrasound, endoscopy, and radiography.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, vaccinations, and other treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
  • Continuously monitor patients' vital signs, responses to treatment, and overall progress, providing updates to veterinarians and adjusting care as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with horse owners regarding their horses' conditions, treatment plans, and care instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including patient histories, treatment plans, and billing charges.
  • Work collaboratively with veterinary students, interns, and other staff to provide comprehensive care and support for educational activities.


**Requirements:**
  • A high school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of experience working with equine patients in a professional veterinary setting (Level II) or 4 years of experience (Level III).
  • Possess a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
  • The ability to drive a truck and/or tractor are strongly desired.


**Working Hours:** Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. some weekends, and/or holidays.

**Salary Range:** $31,200 - $43,500
