About the Role:

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with a British Sign Language qualification to work in a supportive SEN school environment. The school caters to students of all ages, from 5 to 18, with an average class size of 8 students per teacher. The school has recently received a positive Ofsted report, highlighting the exceptional team you could be working with.

This role involves working Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm. We require a commitment to the mentioned working pattern.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with complex mental health and emotional needs.
  • Help students understand the value of education.
  • Assist in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure each student receives the necessary care and guidance.
  • Provide one-to-one support to students requiring extra assistance.

Key Requirements:

  • British Sign Language qualification.
  • A genuine passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
  • The ability to build strong, comfortable relationships with students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Resilience and adaptability to handle various emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • A valid Clear Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce/Child and Adult Workforce) registered to the Update Service.
