Museum Curator

To support the Museum and Heritage Services Manager in delivering a high-quality museum service, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the collection and museum environment. This includes drafting and implementing museum policies and plans to adhere to Museum Accreditation standards, as well as managing the preparation and installation of museum exhibitions and interpretation.

• Manage the collection and museum environment, including acquisition, care, security, conservation, documentation, storage, and display.
• Draft and implement museum policies and plans to adhere to Museum Accreditation standards.
• Manage the preparation and installation of museum exhibitions and interpretation.
• Seek grants to support museum services, particularly regarding access and interpretation of collections.
• Manage an enquiry and information service for the museum, delegating as required.
• Act as Duty Officer, taking full charge of the Museum as required.

The post is based in Down County Museum or Newry and Mourne Museum, Bagenal's Castle, Newry. The post holder may be required to transfer to other locations in accordance with any requirements stated in the Job Description, any reviews of service delivery or other requirements as may arise from time to time.

The salary for this post is PO1 SCP 29 - 32, currently £37,336 - £40,221 per annum based on a 36 hour week (pro rata to hours worked).
