About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated clinician to join our team as a Consultant Obstetrician with a special interest in fetal medicine.

This is a substantive position, and the post holder will work within the Women and Children's division based at Newham University Hospital, which is part of Barts Health NHS Trust, one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK.

The successful candidate will have a wide experience in General Obstetrics and Labour Ward Management, with the ability to perform fetal medicine scans with confidence.

The post holder will join the existing team of 20 Consultants in the department and is expected to complement existing sub-specialties, but full support and training will be provided in developing a new speciality interest based on the needs of the service.

Main Responsibilities

  • General Obstetrics, coordination of labour ward activities in collaboration with midwifery leaders and related clinical governance issues.
  • Participate in 1:21 on-call rota covering obstetrics.
  • Resident on site until [insert time] and at any time during shifts depending on clinical needs.

Person Specification

Essential

  • CCST/CCT (or equivalent), or within 6 months of a date, or entry on the Specialist Register of the GMC for Obstetrics & Gynecology.
  • Demonstrable skills in department management.
  • ATSM or Equivalent in Fetal Medicine.
  • ATSM in Obstetrics and Labour Ward Management.
  • Wide experience in Obstetrics.

Desirable

  • Experience in Management of Recurrent Miscarriages.
  • Completed recognised management course.
