About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team at Liberty Steel Group. As a Mechanical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our plant and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize downtime and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of maintenance activities with production schedules.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and other team members.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in mechanical engineering and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Relevant mechanical engineering qualification (HNC or ONC level or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in plant maintenance and repair, preferably in a heavy industry setting.
  • Strong understanding of industrial systems, including hydraulic systems, pumps, drives, and gearboxes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to methodically fault-find and resolve issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-focused attitude with a strong understanding of prioritization and resource management.
