Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Officer to join our Water Quality and Environment team at Severn Trent. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing environmental risks across designated regions, ensuring compliance with environmental permits and regulations, and facilitating Environment Agency audits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess, and manage environmental risks associated with operations across designated regions.
  • Regularly review and amend environmental permits to ensure they remain up-to-date and reflective of operational practices.
  • Facilitate and lead Environment Agency site inspections, coordinating with internal teams to ensure sites meet audit requirements.
  • Conduct regular, risk-based site inspections to ensure compliance and readiness for external audits, aiming for a target of site inspections per month.
  • Manage the Compliance Assessment Report (CAR) process, ensuring timely and effective resolution of any non-compliance issues.
  • Utilise PowerBI dashboards, TeRI BI reports, and eSCADA trends to monitor environmental performance across sites.
  • Lead collaboration between multiple teams, including front-line operational teams, process scientists, and flow compliance technicians, to address and resolve compliance issues.
  • Develop and implement improvements to current data reporting practices, ensuring that reporting is timely, accurate, and aligned with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have experience in waste water recycling treatment processes, with a proven track record of identifying and implementing process enhancements. A full UK driving licence is essential.
