Project Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Project Engineering Manager to join our team at newscientist - Jobboard. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing multi-disciplined engineering teams across multiple projects, working closely with Project Managers and Project Engineering Leads to deliver overall engineering output against time, cost, and performance budgets.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and lead multi-disciplined engineering teams on large-scale development projects.
- Develop and implement engineering plans, establish key milestones, and identify risks, opportunities, and interdependencies.
- Review current engineering positions on projects and adapt plans as required to mitigate risks to cost, schedule, or performance budgets.
- Support and supervise subordinate Project Engineering Leads to ensure appropriate project management.
- Prepare and communicate monthly engineering status reports for assigned projects and those of subordinates to the Head of Engineering Projects.
- Coordinate engineering input into bids as part of the business winning process.
- Represent engineering on the multi-functional management team of the Precision Guidance business area at weekly and monthly progress and reporting meetings.
- Attend regular monthly Board level Project reviews to report on status and progress.
- Educated to a degree level in an engineering-related subject.
- Significant previous experience of managing and/or leading multi-disciplined engineering teams on large-scale development projects.
- Strong understanding and proven track record of engineering lifecycles and processes on technically complex development projects.
- A strong understanding and experience of systems integration and testing.
- Familiarity with high software content development.
- Experience of working on the development of hardware electronics, firmware, and mechanical-based products.
- Ability to be at Basildon 2 to 3 days per week (on average and flexible).
- Willingness to occasionally travel to partner sites across the UK during development.
