Ecologist Assistant

We are seeking an Ecologist Assistant to join our Environment and Sustainability Team at the Egis Group. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing habitats through ecological and landscape improvement schemes on the M25 DBFO, one of the busiest motorways in Europe.

This entry-level role involves assisting the Biodiversity Net Gain Advisor with various tasks, including protected species surveys, botanical surveys, and developing biodiversity enhancement schemes. The successful candidate will also assist with environmental impact assessments and input data using GIS.

• Assist the Biodiversity Net Gain Advisor with protected species surveys and botanical surveys
• Develop biodiversity enhancement schemes with the Biodiversity Net Gain Advisor
• Conduct ecological pond surveys and act as Ecological Clerk of Work on-site supervising vegetation clearance
• Collaborate with Design, Project Management, and Service Delivery teams
• Assist with environmental impact assessments and input data using GIS

• Degree or qualification in environmental subject
• Willingness for occasional night work for supervision purposes
• Knowledge of protected species, botanical identification, and survey methods
• Full UK driving licence to drive a manual vehicle
• Member of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) – desirable
• Experience with GIS – desirable

The estimated salary for this role is £35,000-£45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
